Fine, beautiful and rare Swiss 18K gold, diamond and pearl enamel verge and
fusee bell repeater with dumb setting by
D(avi)d Bourdillon le jeune De Rodon & Compagnie, Geneva, circa 1790.
The back with blue enamel over engine turning with a diamond center and pearl bezels.
White enamel dial (chips and repair) and openwork gold hands. Somewhat faded
gilt movement with pierced and engraved balance cock.
When the plunger is depressed this watch chimes the time with a lovely tone on a bell
inside the back of the case. There is also a lever at the edge of the dial to have the
hammers hit blocks inside the case so the chime does not disturb others.
