Fine and very rare limited edition Patek Philippe 18K gold ladies commemorative pendant watch and chain
with applied original gold relief depicting William Tell holding a crossbow and arrow by Hans
Erni circa 1979. With original certificate and bill of sale.
Nickel 18 jewel adjusted movement. 32 inch chain weighing 17.8 dwt.
This watch is number 24 of a limited edition of 100 examples (50 mens' and 50 ladies), numbered 1
to 100, made to commemorate the 50th Swiss Federal Target Shooting
contest in Lucerne in 1979. There is an example of this watch
in the Patek Philippe museum. It was possibly the first
limited production model (of many to come) from the firm.
Hans Erni is a Swiss painter, designer and sculptor. Born in Lucerne, he is known in
particular for illustrating postage stamps, activism, lithographs for the Swiss Red
Cross, and participation on the Olympic Committee.
